In 1990, I launched a simple tabloid newspaper named Virtu to serve as a platform for local writers and artists. The primary goal was to provide these creatives with an opportunity to build their portfolios and increase visibility of their talents. I distributed Virtu free of charge throughout San Diego. Copies were made available at coffeehouses, college recreation rooms, and any other locations willing to host a stack on an available table. This grassroots approach allowed the publication to reach a diverse local audience and foster connections within the creative community. Although Virtu had a brief lifespan, I believe its core concept was strong, so I would like to bring it to this digital forum.
